With global and cross border leadership roles leading large multi-cultural BD, sales and support teams as a line director at global firms such as KPMG and Linklaters, I have since led and managed, mid-tier and boutique legal and accounting firms in the UK and Australia.
My style is to create an inclusive vision, join the dots across the entire business and align strategic rhetoric with operational execution by building high performance support teams committed to operational excellence.

My achievements include managing tough partner groups and resetting strategy, Enterprise Wide Project Management, including PMS selection, implementation and cloud hosting

I am a BD specialist and created many millions of dollars of business winning business through an integrated digital and conventional marketing plan, as well as aligning cultural change through the levers of remuneration and assessment.

I enjoy working with owners / partners / directors and I have a strong track record in growth, enhanced profits, cost efficiency and optimising support functions. My philosophy is that we best get things done through win-win outcomes with all our stakeholders and we must coach people in an objective spirit of continuous improvement.

BD / Sales Specialist, Pioneer of Big Data analysis and CRM

I was thrown into the deep end as a Director of IMS Health Inc. managing a consulting sales team across Northern Europe, whilst being a Statistician for IMS Health and the Pharma Strategy Group.
Before Big Data was cool, I set up JVs with Polish pharmacists and GPs and collected all their prescription data, analysing it and using it to advise large Pharma companies across the world to devise their sales, marketing and drug packaging strategies. I also did the data analysis, being one of the first to bring conjoint analysis and use SPSS statistical software.

Later, within legal services I was one of the pioneers of pushing change and developing the client / sector team approach, Key Account Management and the alignment of the firm's services to the buyer's needs.
I also Developed 'The Owners' Agenda' to align services to C-suite buyers' needs,

I have managed large and small Bid and Tender Proposals Teams and advised a variety of business owners on BD, CRM and Sales Pipeline development. I enjoy face to face consultative selling and I also have a keen interest in NPS and the customer experience, as well as the integration of BD principles with powerful digital marketing to achieve sales growth.

I have run a series of BD academies where debunking the myth that sales is someone else's role and 'too hard', is a proud achievement.

Data analysis, Planning and Transformation

My first global marketing plan was at Linklaters.
Since then I have moved into strategic planning and driven many firm-wide / divisional / company Executable Strategic SMART action plans and offsite retreats.
Working with business owners and others I aim to cut through complexity and bring ideas, challenge and add value to the planning process. I have been lucky to have been exposed to a variety of sectors as well as law and accounting including the Not For Profit, NDIS, Government, Legal Supply, Market Research, Events Management and Technology sectors. Always keen to get a Strategy on a Page that is easily communicated, I also like clear, streamlined planning processes that do not over-engineer the talking but focus on practical actions and outcomes at the coal-face.

Redholm Consulting

I set up Redholm in 2006 after a mainly international focus in my career. To advise Business Owners, Line Directors, CEOs and Partners you have to have 'been there and done that'. Credibility comes not least from having proven that you can win business yourself and solve business problems as a Principal in your own right. I have worked for a variety of firms; Global, National, Large, Mid-Tier and Boutique with engagements varying from customer listening to analysis and planning, coaching and active leadership in BD and sales, as well as specific projects such as finding suitable merger partners or managing workshops.

I also enjoy other sector work . Examples include strategic planning for an IT company, BD consulting to Lexis Nexis and working with 'Cool Australia' a great Australian charity set up by Jason Kimberley working with schools to teach them sustainable living.

Technology - Legal IT, Managed Services and Blockchain

Within the Legal Mid-Tier, Change Management is often the forgotten twin of PMS and IT project implementation, I have worked on a MS Dynamics-based PMS, AZURE hosting and put in both conveyancing and HR software. Driving rigorous IT procurement backed by a joined up rolling IT / Technology strategy is essential and is a keen interest working with quality partners. In the last 8 years I have also worked on and off alongside one of Australia's most innovative IT providers , Asta, as a strategic adviser, and latterly as Chief Experience Officer, whilst learning XaaS, web development and managed data security and more recently working on two ICOs in a Blockchain ideas factory.

My Approach

It's the clients stupid! Internal and External. - Strive to do what's right and make things better than when you find them. I believe we need to use experience to coach and support people and we must look to change as a positive thing, taking people with us wherever we can.

I believe that by giving something back to clients and others, we ultimately gain ourselves and we have a duty to clients, contacts and the wider community to make things better and more fulfilling. As a father of two girls, I am also a passionate believer in equality and opportunity.

I offer my services pro-bono when i can such as working with Fishburners start-ups and as a QLD Government Approved Business Mentor.

CASE STUDY – Strategy with buy-in

Situation: A mid-tier law firm of 100 where growth was impeded by an inability to make clear choices on where to invest limited resources. Over reliance on domestic property and an imbalance of equity partners doing work and  not winning it and a risk adverse culture of  cash flow seen at risk if too many hires made.

Task: Recalibrated the risk appetite and create 3 year growth options via full analysis of client and practice profitability, referral sources and by treating the equity time pool as a key metric of ROI.
